Regarding about author section, better not to make changes to the template(page.php,single.php) unless you’re familiar with the theme files and programming. If you don’t want to use the default page template, there are other template options;
-Just go to your Dashboard>>pages>>particular page
-Inside the page sidebar under Page attributes>>Template select the desired page template.
-Save changes and you’re good to go.
