Problem 1:
You can go to header.php file and add your data to line No.87 for adding information below the navmenu.
Problem 2:
There are widgets to do so. You don’t need to code them 🙂 You can use top widgets to put media boxes there. If you want 3 Media boxes then add data to Top1, Top2 and Top3 Widgets.
