I’m assuming you modified core theme files then and did not use a child theme for changes? This is why WordPress recommends a child theme for this because then whenever there are updates to the parent theme, your changes won’t be lost.
As for Encounters, I changed a lot, especially in the style.css file. What files did you modify?
