ParticipantMy custom header/banner area is very short, no matter the size of the image I upload…I suspect equivalent to the min-height defined by the CSS. I’ve tried increasing the minimum height in the child theme, which kind of works. But I’m wondering what might be causing this? Shouldn’t it be responsive?
I’ve tried uploading the image to the Custom Header in WordPress and also using a widget in the Banner Wide and Banner Short – none of these seems to work.
On a partially-related side note, I would ideally like to use WidgetKit here and use a slideshow, but I’m getting WidgetKit errors when I try to build a slideshow. Haven’t spent a ton of time trying to figure that one out yet, but it be related to where this development site was installed on the server.

ModeratorHi Ellen….probably my design mistake as many believe the WP Header feature is to load a banner, but I used that for just the background area of the banner area (widget position). To load a banner image, use a widget in the “Banner” widget position for what you are wanting to do. The WP Custom header is just for the background only. Sorry about that…a design learning experience for me.
Regarding Widgetkit….although I don’t provide support for third party plugins, what are the errors that you are getting?

ParticipantAndre,
Thanks for the quick response. No, I get it about the header area. I was originally using it just as you intended. But when I use a simple text widget
it didn’t work either. Then I removed the widget and tried using the WP Header and noticed it only a short area….
….ahhh, as with most technical problem when I try to demonstrate my problem it suddenly starts working! Sort of…now the image works in the widget, but is huge. The image I uploaded is 1920 x 500. It’s displaying wider than the site.
Regarding the WidgetKit, I know this is way outside your support services, but just trying to create a slide show I get these errors:
Warning: mysql_real_escape_string(): No such file or directory in /homepages/20/d367786347/htdocs/…/widgetkit1/helpers/widget.php on line 87

I uninstalled the plugin and reinstalled, that didn’t work. Possibly something else went wrong. Like I said, haven’t spent a ton of time digging into this problem yet.
And as for your “design learning experience”– your designs are awesome!

ModeratorPut the banner image into the “Banner Short” position and it should center and size to fit the area.
For the Widgetkit issue…it’s obviously missing or not seeing something. I went to download Widgetkit to test on my XAMPP test site but it looks like their website is experiencing technical difficulties (putting it mildly), lol :side:
….may have to wait to see what is going on. What version of Widgetkit did you download?

Participant1.4.6 I’ve been using this one a while. Yesterday I did also try to download a newer version, but had the same problems you did.
…a ha! I was just now able to download the latest (1.5.5) version from their site. Uploaded that and it works. What the….? Totally my luck, ask for help and look like an idiot. Yep…now the banner is working too.
Thanks.
