I’ve tried using both the WordPress Header Image or your steps to add Custom Fields for unique header images on pages. In both cases my banner area doesn’t resize to accommodate the image, it just stays as a narrow band 40px high. I expect that I’ve missed a check box somewhere. I’m assuming if I can remedy this once then I shouldn’t have issues adding slideshows and the like.

So, just realized the area sizes to fit the header caption, not the image. I can make that work.

I’ve used the WP Header feature as the background only. The widget positions of the Banner wide and Banner short is for loading static images or sliders into your pages. The custom fields method is created to allow custom “backgrounds” with the caption text. Were you wanting to adjust the height of that area?

Thanks for the response. I was misunderstanding the difference between the banner and header spaces while I was trying to add photos to the top of the pages. I hadn’t made it to the next tutorial for the sliders, which seem to be working fine, so I think I’ve got it now.
