I’m helping a friend set up a site for her jewellery shop. I know most of your themes say they are WooCommerce ready, but are they all the same in that regard? Or are some more suitable for ecommerce than others?
I would say Circumference is the better of the lot because the style.css actually has styling for it….as well bbPress.
I’m starting with the Lite version of the theme to see how it looks. I’m getting a message on my dashboard that “your theme does not declare WooCommerce support”?
I also uploaded a header image but the site is showing only a tiny sliver of the image
Unfortunately, the lite version doesn’t have that, just the commercial version….can’t give away everything free 😛
Here…you can compare the Lite and the Paid version: Circumference Lite vs Circumference
I should probably add something to the live demo of the paid version to showcase WooCommerce styling for the theme, as well, bbPress (which it also supports).
So the Lite versions aren’t Woocommerce compatible?
No….but if one needed it, they could by following the WooCommerce setup instructions. I believe they have a couple methods to achieve that in their documentation. I should also note that even with the Circumference theme that supports WooCommerce, it’s not a complete WooCommerce website theme, whereas there are themes that are built strictly for it and fully integrated.
Having just spent several days trying to find a responsive, well-coded, flexible WooCommerce theme, I’d say there’s a crying need for someone like yourself to create a dedicated WooCommerce site, designed specifically for a shop.
The free themes all have bugs or are very limited in their options, even the ones supplied by WooThemes. The good paid themes are all around the $100 mark and many have a “no refund” policy – scarey when you’re spending that much money.
My friend likes the look of the Celestial Reloaded curved slider – would you recommend Celestial for WooCommerce?
Celestial Reloaded does have a right sidebar page template for WooCommerce…but as you mentioned, a need for a dedicated theme for WooCommerce might be something I will consider. I’ve been pondering this for a couple of months now and it very well could happen very soon. I’ve had enough people ask me about WooCommerce in my themes, so it very well could be a reality….although it might take me a couple months.
It’s interesting that you mentioned about the curved design style for the header showcase…when I created Celestial over a year ago, I didn’t expect this theme to be so popular. It turns out a lot of people like that curve for some reason. I’m planning to re-code the Celestial theme soon, including a lot of design/style enhancements. Perhaps I could make it more WooCommerce based as a full shop theme option.
There are so many themes now with a big rectangular header showcase, it’s getting a little “old hat”. Whereas Celestial Reloaded is the only one I’ve seen with an unusual shape. I’m sure that’s why it’s popular.
I totally agree…in fact, the last few days I’ve been reading some blog articles from a few big names about the future of the WordPress theme industry, and of of the interesting things that came up was that so many themes are looking the same with the same features (ie: the big showcase headers and sliders). One big name theme developer actually decided to go more simplified. This is bringing some ideas for my future themes.
