Is there a way to display the register button on my blog differently without adding a plugin? I’d like to have it a little bigger and more obvious than what is currently shown. Image attached of how it displays right now.

Will people who register on my blog automatically be notified when a new post goes up? Or do I need a special plugin for that?

You need an newsletter plugin to do so. You can search newsletter plugins and select on from here: http://www.wordpress.org/plugins
