This ties into a question I asked earlier, but the more I look at it the more it seems like a larger issue. I also saw a question in the Pure & Simple category similar to this that wasn’t really resolved.
The excerpt functionality doesn’t seem to be working.
In Pure & Simple the Customizing > Basic Settings offers a field to limit the Excerpt Length. Also in Flat Responsive in Customizing > Basic Settings > Blog Setting there is an Excerpt Length field. It has no effect in either of these. I can set the length to 50 or 500 and nothing changes.
But the Sleeky Pro does not offer an Excerpt Length field in Customizing. You can use the WordPress Settings > Reading to choose a Summary instead of a Full text, but choosing that option doesn’t have any affect on the Posts page.
I suspect that buried in the php files for these themes the “support” functionality and accompanying action for the excerpt field is broken somehow. I can’t confirm this because I haven’t found the fix.
I’m wondering if you can take a look at this issue as it affect several of your themes.
Also, as a side note, the Customizing features in Sleek Pro don’t all work. For instance, in the Color Settings, I know Content Bottom Widget Background, Bottom Widget Background, Right/Left Sidebar Background, Content Link Color, Breadcrumbs Text color overrides both Breadcrumbs Link Color and Breadcrumbs Link Hover and a few others don’t work. You may want to test all of those fairly soon.
Hi Ellen,
When we check our customize option it works fine in pure and simple as well as flat responsive. So could you please check once.
And regarding the Sleeky pro color option we found the bug in our theme, so we will fix this issue asap in our next update. We hope you understand.
Thanks
I hope I can revisit this topic as I’m still having the issue and doesn’t seem it was resolved in recent theme updates.
I’m using the Sleeky Pro theme and the blog page only shows full articles unless I specifically insert the < !–more– > tag. I’m wondering if you ever fixed this allowing the WordPress Settings > Reading > Summary function to work?
I would like to specify that the summary/excerpt would show on the Blog/archive page with a link to the full article.
Thanks.
Ellen
Hello Ellen,
The summary option for each article in a feed inside Settings>>Reading is for the article in a feed which also affects what users receive in their RSS subscriptions. Regarding post/excerpt option in the customizer, we’ll be adding the feature in our new update by the end of the day. This topic might’ve been missed out also it’s been so long revisited again after years, we’re sorry for the inconvinience.
We’ll let you know.
Best Regards,
Bidur
Thanks for the response Bidur. Do you recommend using the more tag until this is fixed then? Also, any idea how long it might be?
Hello Ellen,
Yes you can use the more tag option before we update the feature in the theme. Sorry for the delay, we’re processing the update and will follow you back as soon as we release it.
Best Regards,
Bidur
