excerpts and content

Hi I really need the Encounters Pro theme to display Archives, Blog and Categories as excerpt. The rest is ok as full content. Please can you tell how to change it as at present everything is showing as full content. I went into content.php and change the

However, it changes everything to excerpt. Where am I going wrong please? THX

However, my blog is still showing full content and I’d like an image in there. I have been following your video support and I think its missing ‘how to get the small image onto the blog’. I know how to upload image sizes etc but when you’ve got a big image on a post how does it convert to a small image on the blog? Ok enough for now, hope you can help. :huh:

I’m not sure if you noticed but you have a double << at the start of the code; should be one only. Perhaps that is why it wasn't working? For the small blog image, that is controlled from the theme options Basic Settings tab on the customizer.

Hi somehow I’ve managed to create the recent post plus with the correct pic and wording – all good here. Archive, blog and categories are showing 2 of the same images and double posts and at least 300 x 300 pics. What could this be please?

Hi sorry forget that last Q. There are no pics on the RECENT POST PLUS (neither mini pics on right or article) and the archieves, categories and blog are full size still. HELP PLEASE! :kiss:

I think it’s best you show me a link to your site.
In the meantime, as for double images, my guess is that you are using a “Featured Image” plus an image inserted into the first part of the post? Recent Posts Plus won’t show thumbnails unless a post has a “Featured Image”.

As a side note, when someone starts to make changes to the theme’s core code, it falls out of theme support, but I will help you on this one. Please note that if I need to go in and fix the code, it becomes billable time, so you may want to be careful with custom code changes 🙂

But let’s start with sending me a link to your site. Also, did you see my post earlier about the double << you had in your code?

Also, you are correct, the Recent Posts snippet is not in the extras folder. I will need to add that and do an update to the theme.

Just to clarify, you are wanting your archives and blog (categories) to use excerpts instead of the_content method?

Hi it’s late here so tomorrow I will change the content.php back to original, I only changed one feature so it’s an easy fix.

I was thinking about the image, that this
could be the issue so what is a Feature Image?

Yes, I did look at the >> and that was my error pasting on the forum.

I would like archives, categories and blog as excerpts, but don’t seem to be getting anywhere. :ohmy:

What I will do is try something out on my local test site. Perhaps what I could do is what I did recently for my Luminescence theme; I added a feature where the choice of content or excerpts is left up to the end-user to select from the theme options. So it’s one or the other, then add it as a new feature to an update of Encounters. I’ve had one person a while back request this of Encounters.
