MemberI’m new to using the Celestial Reloaded theme, and my only real problem at this point is that the featured image gets repeated on the main page twice. I realize it may be my own ignorance here but is there any way to stop the featured image from being repeated?
You can see my blog here:
Thanks for any help you can give.

ModeratorI’m guessing you used the image for your “Featured Image” but also inserted it into your post as well? If so, you only need one of the two options.
Are most of your posts like that and how many posts do you have? I might have a solution for you without having to remove any of the images.

MemberYes, unfortunately the majority of the posts are like that. If you have something that I can do, I’d like to hear it. Really appreciate all your great help and tutorials. You’re fantastic!

ModeratorGood morning… last night before going to bed, I did a couple things but it looks like to solve this, relates to the need of an update to the theme. In a WordPress theme, there are two ways to add post content to a blog (which also relates to how it gets added to a full view of the post) like this:
the_content()
…and
the_excerpt()
The_content option is the most common which is what the default theme of WordPress is using, but what appears to be the more flexible is the_excerpt one. I will have to change this and also add another theme file. Long story short, by adding the_excerpt in the theme file, you can have the featured image show, but if you have that same image again or a different image in the first part of your post, the featured one will disappear when viewing the full post but then your inserted image will show instead.
So I will need to make this change and update today. If you don’t hear from me in the next 4 hours or so, follow up with me.

MemberThis sounds like it would work but just to make sure we’re understanding each other, it’s on the main page that I get both images. When I click the title to read the full post there is only one image. Thanks again for your help!

ModeratorThat is because I have the featured image only set for the blog intros (home page showing all posts) but not on the full post view (single post view). I’m about to make some adjustments to the Celestial Reloaded theme to use the excerpt method but discovered I have to change a couple other files too.
When done, you can use the Featured Image, then if you insert the image (even if it’s a different size or orientation) into your post, this won’t show as a double image on your blog home page as it does now. Likewise, the Featured image will only show on the blog part but not the full post.
Basically the featured image will show on the blog posts view, and your own inserted image won’t, but it will for the full post view.

ModeratorWell I have something setup…almost. I have just one small issue to solve and posted the problem in the WordPress forums. I can send you a beta version of the theme with the changes if you are brave enough to try it. If so, contact me via email support and I can send you the theme. Just make sure you download a copy of the theme you are currently using in case you had to go back to it.

MemberOk…. I’m willing to try the beta after making a backup.

ModeratorJust sent you the beta version. As mentioned, please make sure you make a copy backup of your current Celestial Reloaded theme before you overwrite them with the new one.

MemberI’ve made the backup of the original blog and will be installing this beta soon. I understand that this is not a final release but it certainly will be easier than going back through the blog and deleting the Featured Image. I’ll report back if I discover problems. Thanks so much.

MemberHi There, it’s 3 weeks later and no problems at all that I’ve noticed. Thanks so much for your help with the featured images.
