Four column on front page/pictures

I just started to set up our wp-site with the theme Encounters. I would like to have a static page as a FrontPage. On the demoversion it is 4 Pictures on the startpage with texts. How is this made?

The audio in the video is a bit low and I will be remaking all the tutorial videos soon, but this should help you to create the front page like the demo. If you still run into problems, let me know.
