How to integrate 404 into normal page

How can we insert the 404 page into a normal page with menu and all?

Not sure If I understand right not but if you link menu item to a non existing page of the site then it will display 404 error page. For example you can see it on the demo site : http://demo.styledthemes.com/celestial-reloaded/xyz

What I mean is: the 404 page has nothing from the theme. I want the 404 page (404.php) to be like the site with the header and footer so visitors who land on a 404 don’t get completely lost – have the feel that they are still on the same site and have a chance to go back somewhere else through the menu.

I managed to add the header and footer but I totally not sure of the code so I don’t want to see a disaster down the road because I screwed up something.

Frankly, just saying, that would be nice to have an editable 404 page that my clients could edit in the editor, like any other page, with the same theme all around the “page not found’ text. May be you could put that in the Theme suggestion box?

Ok now we understand your concern. We will try to see if we can incorporate your request in future too or not 🙂 . For now you can try to put header and footer like other template and that should help you at the moment .

Any code would help put that file inside the file list and show in the editor?

Also I would like to know if you are making progress in updating all themes or if any new – interesting – theme are coming up soon? Because I don’t want to renew if it is to have the exact same versions for all themes I already have and no new theme on the horizon.

Off course we’re coming with update, First of all we’re adding sticky menu and managing menu position feature to Pure & Simple which is already out. I’ll make the announcement today on Social Media.

We’re adding JetPack portfolio to preferential theme which should be out this week too and we’re also adding WooCommerce support to Circumference .

New theme is also coming out in January too. It will be generic theme with WooCommerce support.

As for the news, woocommerce is an easy fix and it is already in most of the themes. Sticky menu is good news. Thanks.

The toughest and most urgent updates I would love to see implemented is:

1) a way to insert a 100% slideshow or just large bg image with text in the middle of the content on the homepage like I did on my site: http://www.theportwebdesign.com – or see this example: so we can have a look like this: :http://weblizar.com/preview/#enigma_pro – see portfolio section and what our clients say section. very modern. I don’t like it because they have their own web builder (versus using normal editor) so it makes the home page very hard to customize but love those sections – Cannot find a way to code those 100% sections inside the content.. this is something you find with a lot of modern design and I think it is very appealing – different sections with 100% background on home page. The only way i found to do that with your themes is by using layer slider in the middle of the content. It works fine. Even using one slide for the background does the job. I wish the coding would be there as an option (without site builder/composer) so we would not have to use the heavy lifting of layer slider .

2) An option for encounters to change the font size on all content like you already have in Circumference. Font size – not font family. Almost all my clients find the font size too small and on Encounter it is a bit tough to find the way to enlarge the size for the content. Here is so many size for different part of the site in the css that I am lost trying to find the one that works for the whole content (not the h tags – just normal p and div font size)

And yes, a customizable 404 page with header and footer.

As I said numerous time I wish to stick with your themes because I know them so well now – they are very clean and easy to customize – but we need a little help from you guys to bring them to the next level.

Thank you very much for your suggestion they are really appreciated.

1. Regarding WooCommerce, yes all the theme are WooCommerce ready but WooCommerce gets displayed in it’s own default view and we’re trying to have the dedicated template for different section of WooCommerce. You’ll see what I meant there once it gets released.

2. For inserting bag with text in the middle, why don’t you try to use WidgetKit slideshow ? I think you can see it how it’s done in circumference here : http://demo.styledthemes.com/circumference/ not sure if you meant the different stuff. Regarding portfolio, We’re implementing JetPack portfolio like Pure & Simple in Preferential which will be out this week. I agree they have to more modern and fancy like you’ve shown in other theme.

3. I agree with your feedback on the Encounter theme and I’ve added it to todo list already and I hope we can do that soon.

4. I totally agree with your 404 page suggestion. Currently there are no way you can navigate to other pages in current 404 page. We will make sure that’s updated too soon.
