I really don’t want a massive grid! I just want ONE ad position in the content of the blog post. It’s not an unusual thing to have, even in a blog post – most bloggers are trying to make money from their blogs, and that’s the whole reason the 468 width banner exists.
I can fully understand you don’t want users creating spammy-looking sites which reflect badly on your theme, but I think blocking the ability to add a small advertising banner is is taking things a wee bit too far. However now I know what to do, I can easily put that bit of code in the child theme so don’t feel you have to code it.
If you think you can do that…give it a try, otherwise I will put in a widget position as an update.
I have a beta version if you are interested in testing it? What I did is add an inset top banner and an inset bottom banner position to the blog home page as well other pages relating to the blog. So it will show up on the blog home (all the post intros) and the single post page (full post view). I also discovered that the index.php file that I mentioned above is probably not the best solution. I did this in other files instead.
I’m not sure if I will keep these in the theme, but perhaps what I am willing to do is put the files I modified into a child theme for Encounters for you. I’m going to guess you are not using a child theme at the moment?
Hi, yes I am using a child theme so the files for a child theme would be great!
