    Hi!

This is going to be a phased approach, but struggling with the best steps on how to approach the first phase. I realize this is outside the scope of what you would support, but have read codex and duplicator; but seems like there should be an easier way to migrate the files than what I’m finding.

For big picture, I have an existing website: http://www.moorereflections.com based on html.
Within the site I have a blog site based on WordPress: http://www.moorereflections.com/blog.
I created a separate subdirectory to test the new look I want for the entire site: testsubdomain.moorereflections.com using the child-Flat Responsive Pro theme
I installed duplicator on the blog and testsubdomain and saved the installer and archive files.

What I’d like to do next is “copy” the new look/theme from testsubdomain to /blog without overwriting the existing posts I already have. When I look at the instructions for duplicator, it’s all based on if you’re moving to another domain that doesn’t have wordpress. After I get the new theme moved over, then I’ll worry about moving my existing html information. I’ve been reading on that, and that seems doable.

Hope this makes sense. and thank you!!

    Hy Deronda,

The thing is using duplicator you can only transform one WordPress site to another it doesn’t support html to WordPress conversion. No to transform your static html site to WordPress. You have to copy content and add posts or pages depending on your requirement. And if you need any help regarding adding content we are glad to give you support on that.

    Thanks

I’m not worried about the static html right now. It’s copying the new “test” theme to the existing blog that I want to work on first. Then I’ll manually copy my content from static html.

    Hi Deronda,

It seems that you have your blog site in another WordPress theme other than Flat-responsive. So, there may be difference in Theme like widget position, customizer Setting etc. so using duplicater, you can’t find the solution you want.

you can export all content and import in another site. To Export Content please go to Tools > Export and choose the content you want to copy to another site and then click on ” Download Export File “. it’ll generate xml file.

after export you can import download xml file to another site. To Import, go to Tools > import, select wordpress and you may be prompt to install plugin if you haven’t installed already , upload download file and select ” upload and import file ”

You may noticed Missing style in imported content.. to have same style as older site, you need to manually copy and paste style using child theme

    Thanks
