Mobile Only Logo

The sidebar for most people will generally be a solid color, so one will end up using a lighter for logo as a contrast (PC version of site).

However, when one is in a mobile phone, the background is now white like the page, and a lighter colored logo then no longer is visible. If the header in mobile was same color as sidebar, there wouldn’t be a need. Do you get what I mean?

Is there a way to code in a mobile only logo? So for example, if I had a yellow logo in full size version, could I then make that logo grey or black in mobile version so it is visible?

You know what…that is a very good point and I never thought about that. If I understand you correctly that if someone has a light or white coloured logo for the desktop version within the left or right sidebar, when viewing mobile, the logo is hard to see or blends in with the white page?

If this is what you mean, you have a good point. Confirm this and what I will do is recode the theme so that there are “two” logo uploads, one for the sidebar and another logo upload for the mobile. This will actually be a major update to the theme, as well I will have to do this for the Lite version of the theme too. This will take me about a day or two.

Of course, this would mean everyone needs to logo versions. Perhaps if in mobile view, I put the mobile logo view in a colour background that was the sidebar colour? This might be better…what is your thoughts on this instead of two logo uploads?

Yes. The only way one would avoid this issue would be to use a light color for sidebar and dark logo, but most people will prefer darker, richer colors on sidebar.

I just did an update to my last post…you were too fast to reply 😛

Was thinking instead of telling someone they need two logo types, keep it to the one but on mobile view, the top logo area is in the same background colour as the sidebar.

Yes, I think that’s a good solution as most people may not have the resources, etc, to generate two different logos. Plus it’ll make mobile view look a little more appealing as opposed to the all white background (or whatever content background people select).

I’m going to start on an update doing a new top header area for the mobile view…probably will take me a day or more to come up with something that looks decent and also functions before I release it.

I’ve had an extremely busy week but finally got around to this adjustment. I have not released an update but I do have a beta if you are interested in trying it out?

What I did was create a wrapper around the logo and site title for the mobile view that takes on the same sidebar column two layer background and colours. There is an option for the user to disable this container as well if they don’t want it to show and simply want to keep the white background in the mobile view (this option is found under the Site Title and Tagline tab in the customizer.

If interested in trying this out and let me know what you think of the result, please contact me and I will send you the beta. I would recommend you download a copy of your current theme before replacing your theme files with the new ones.

Forgot about this… I never heard back from K Faylor yet. If you would like, contact me from my contact page and I will send you the beta of it. It’s been a month so I will have to adjust the code in the latest version to keep it up to date.

Update: Odd…I no longer have the changes in my theme. I will have to contact K Faylor and see if I can get what I sent. :whistle:

For anyone experiencing this, I will be uploading the new update to Luminescence later today, so it will become available with a new theme option setting for this. Give me about 6 hours after the time of this posting.
