New Purchase- uploading theme and getting error

i am on the theme page where I am uploading new theme and I get this message after I upload the theme

Installing Theme from uploaded file: lavish-pro-package-1.0.8.zip
Unpacking the package…

Installing the theme…

The package could not be installed. The theme is missing the style.css stylesheet.

Theme install failed.

Help!!!
