How do I put the slide show on the front page only?

Depends on what slider you are using, but for the widgetkit on, this tutorial helps:

There’s a bug some where when I clicked the second link it tells me to log in and never takes me to the page I want to go to.

strange… I was able to click on it and go to the page. However, to find it, go to the Support home page and click on Pro Theme Tutorials and then go to the Encounters one. Then look for the tutorial near the bottom that is titled “How to publish widgets to select pages”.
