    Hello,

    Ive been working days and hours trying to figure these things out. Hopefully you can help me.

    1) My website looks awful on an ipad and iphone why? what can I do to fix??

    2) What is bootstrap Responsive

    3) For latest posts, that widget, recent post plus, each recent post is always the same date, why is that, i noticed it was the same on the demo. The correct dates however are in the actual blog posting so thats good.

    4) I have no idea why my social media links on the bottom do not work. They show up on the bottom of screen, but are not clickable.

    5) also we are suppose to make changes to the child theme right? so it affects the parent? i switched to parent theme tonight and nothing was transfered, im confused. what theme should we have it on?

    Hi Brittany…sounds like you’re not having too much fun with the theme, hence the list of things you are experiencing. An unusual list because since the theme’s launch, this is a first. However, I’m here to help you out, but to begin, please provide me with a link to your site and I will check things out. I may also request admin access as well, but will let you know shortly if I do.

    Thanks for the link…ok, next thing is to find out what specifically you mean by “My website looks awful on an ipad and iphone” so that I know where to look and see if it’s content related or theme related.

    Bootstrap responsive means that the theme adapts to different viewing windows, such as desktop browser, tablets, and phones.

    As for the date…looks like I goofed on my tutorial. Change the date format to this: F j, Y

    For your social icons…I just realized you are on Encounters 1.1…you need to update because it’s now version 1.3.6 and one of the fixes is for the social icons. To update, download the theme package, unzip it, then unzip the theme itself, then you will basically be replacing all the Encounter theme files with the new ones. But always make a copy of your current version first and download it safe to your computer desktop before you update.

    You mentioned you are using a child theme…this is good. Updating the parent theme is what you will be updating. Also, if you activate the parent theme instead of the child theme (or any theme really), WordPress sees the activation as a different theme and you have to redo your options.

    im sorry, i can be extreme, it doesnt look awful. Also im sorry again, iphone format is fine, its the ipad format, it looked all over the place when i had a different home page, thats why i recently made it look exactly like ur home page on the demo, now it looks fine on ipad, expect for spacing, which i think that is content related, not theme related, the only theme related thing, i do need help with is…

    Set title and tagline. I shortened it from fearless daughters ministries to fearless daughters because on ipad it looks choppy, now its fearless, next line daughter, next line ‘S” if that make sense. I think if i changed the font size, that could help. Also if I want to make the top menu white, instead of black, how can i change the set title and tagline into diff color, didnt see it on dashboard.

    where do i find the file to update the theme, looked on wordpress and here, couldnt find 🙁

    also if i always use a child theme, and never a parent is that ok, i didnt realize but thats what ive been doing since the beg.

    thank you so much, you get back so quick, and are very helpful, thankful for that!

    One of the things I found out that can be difficult is to manipulate that font I am using because for longer site titles, it can look bad with big spacing between multiple lines if the title wraps down. The best way is to do one of the following:

    1. Changing the font
    2. Changing the font size
    3. Changing the font size and font
    4. Switch to a logo image for the site title and tagline which will be responsive and resize based on viewing device

    To change the colours of the Site title and tagline, I just looked and realized how can I forget to add those colour options into the theme. I made a note of this to do an update. But in the mean time, the styling (colours) are found in the theme’s style.css around line 378 and looks like this:

    h1.site-title a {
    	margin-bottom: 0;
    	font:normal 2.313em alexbrush;
    	line-height: 0.813em;
    	color:#fff;
    }
    h2.site-description {
    	margin-top:-8px;
    	font:italic 0.813em arial,helvetica, sans-serif;
    	line-height: 1em;
    	text-indent:30px;
    	color:#bdc3c6;
    }

    By the way, as you can tell from the code above, you can change the font and size too. I use em units for size but you can change it to px if you wish. To convert px to em or em to px, I use this: http://www.pxtoem.com

    To update the theme, you would download the theme just as you did when you first got the theme. Hopefully you still have that download link. If you purchased or upgraded to the Theme Membership, you can simply log into this site and on the top menu click on Downloads.

    If you never use the parent theme, that is ok if you want to use the child theme. That way any modifications you make to the theme files, you won’t lose them whenever there’s an update.

    This one I’m not quite sure what you mean? The part about facebook and twitter then about the 1st banner on the home page is what I’m not sure what you are referring to.

    This one unfortunately I won’t be able to help you because this relates more to the social networking scripts that captures the images. You might want to post this question and issue in the wordpress.org forums and see if anyone has a solution or why that doesn’t happen. Images are put into WordPress posts and pages either as a “Featured Image” or directly inserting one into your content (both are WordPress functions).

    Maybe contact support of those social networks and see if they know why.
