    Hiya,

I have (hopefully) just uploaded the latest version of Encounters, but, how or where can I go to confirm it has worked and I am operating with the most recent versiom?

    Thanks

When you go to Appearance >> Themes >> click on the “Details” when you mouseover the theme’s screenshot. The other way is to go to Appearance >> Edit >> then open the style.css and look at the very top of the file.

    Hey,

I check there, if I look at encounters theme parent it is still showing 1.3 and my encounters child is 0.1.0

Should I have uploaded to the child theme or parent?

I have just signed up again for full year membership…

    Help..

The parent theme is the one you update, then your child theme inherits the styles and functions from it (including whatever was or gets updated there.
    Thanks for the renewal!

Well in that case I don’t think it worked as it is showing an old version as I mentioned in previous note..

What should I do, I followed your instruction.. went to my host and uploaded to themes/encounters/

No prob’s about membership.. I like what you do.

How did you update the parent theme?
The latest version of Encounters is 1.7.7

I went to your update page, downloaded the zip file and then tried to upload that to my FTP via my host.

IF your parent theme version has not changed, then something did not go right with your upload of the new version. You want to make sure that the “encounters” theme folder (with the theme files in it) writes over the existing “encounters” theme folder. The other option is to go into the encounters theme folder so you see the files there, and grab all of them and upload them to your existing encounters theme folder using your FTP….as in visually seeing the files locally as well as your remote location when uploading. Your parent theme should be reading as version 1.7.7

Good morning! Yes…the files of the updated encounters will go into the existing encounters that you pointed out the path to.

    Hi,

Not sure what I am doing wrong, I go to my FTP Manager on Bluehost CPanel, then go to the path as you have instructed and then choose to load a file (encounters.zip) then tick overwrite old files.. it only takes a few seconds and then it says, complete. But, when i go back to my website and check the theme it still shows the old theme.

The zip file is in there but all other files remain as last modified in June 2013

Getting frustrated with this and the other way you explained to do it was not clear.

    What else?

You’re not uploading the zip file are you? You need to unzip the file, first and then upload the theme files. This is where you need an actual FTP program, not the one that web hosts offer because they usually limit file uploads to one file at a time.
