Updating theme – what about the child theme?

I am updating my theme. Is it necessary to update the child theme as while or just the parent theme?

I had this same question, but I want to make sure I understand correctly. In the theme update instructions we need to activate a different theme, delete the theme we are updating, and re-install it.

So since the child theme, not the parent theme, is activated, I should be able to skip the first step of activating a different theme and just leave the child theme activated. Then proceed with deleting the parent theme and reinstalling, correct?

Hi Diana,

You don’t need to do anything with the child theme, you can simply activate another theme that is available and delete the theme that you want to update and install the updated version from appearance->Themes. Note that the child theme will be auto activated when you follow above steps.
