I just purchased the Flat Responsive Pro to upgrade my free version to the paid, but if I activate the Theme all of my settings and work from my free version are lost. How do I save those customizations into my new Pro version. I have dozens of hours of work on this site and cannot find every setting and rebuild everything.
When you upgrade from free to pro you basically just need to make sure that you transfer over all the customizer settings from the free version to the pro. There’s a handy plugin that can export all the settings and then import it to pro.
The process would be as follows:
1. have the free theme active
2. install the export/import plugin and go to Customizer / Export, import settings
3. export the settings
4. activate the pro version of the theme
5. import the settings you exported in step 2 in the customizer
If you are still missing anything you had setup with the free version let me know and we can take a look.
Please make sure you have a backup of your existing theme files and database in case anything goes wrong.
I’m preparing to do the same as OWSC and have installed the Customizer E/I plugin. I noticed that it specifically identifies some of the plugins I’m using but not others, so I’m doubtful that those settings will be included. The plugins NOT identified by Customizer include Huge IT Slider and Content Views. Any suggestions on how to proceed?
No, I haven’t gotten any error message or conflicts. I’m just wondering what will happen to the content/settings of the plugins that aren’t being identified by Customizer. Are they likely to be included in the export? What steps can I take to make sure I don’t lose them just in case they are not included?
If you are using any third party plugin/s the settings may not be identified by the customizer. Hence the contents are not exported. So be sure to use a plugin that supports your customizer or find a suitable Export/Import plugin.
