ParticipantI haven’t worked on my wordpress site in years. I remember when I set up the Pure & Simple theme, the default showed several social media icons in the footer. I remember removing all but the facebook icon, and fixing the copyright text (editing a file). But now I want to add back some other social media icons.
Where do I do that?
See screen shot below of what my footer looks like now.
Thanks.

ModeratorHello Alfredo,
You can take a view and add plenty of social icons directly from the customizer.
Step 1: Please go to appearance >> customize >> social networking
Step 2: Add the your url in respective social link/s area and finally save and publish itYou can follow: https://www.styledthemes.com/documentation/pro-themes/pure&simple-pro/

Participantah, bummer. I’m the guy who’s customizer is not working. Is there any other way to get to this info, until I fix the customizer? Is there a file I can edit? I’m a java developer, so I feel ok editing a file to change this. I guess I need to figure out how to fix the customizer…

ModeratorHello Alfredo,
It seems you need a fresh update to the latest version of the theme. Please update your theme to the latest version.
You can follow: https://www.styledthemes.com/installing-updating-themes/Note:Be sure to make the backup of your website or else it may be lost while updating the theme.
You better use duplicator plugin to make a backup. https://wordpress.org/plugins/duplicator/.Incase if you want to edit the file yourself be sure to make the changes in the child theme so that changes won’t lost upon updates;
1. Go to wp-contents >> themes >> partials >> social-bar.php and duplicate the file in child theme
2. Then you can make changesNote: To create a child theme; You can follow: https://developer.wordpress.org/themes/advanced-topics/child-themes/ or directly download from the account section.
Please let us know.

ParticipantThanks for this info, Bidur. Unfortunately, when I first started this site, I didn’t read about using “child themes” until I was well on my way. Now that I am not using the child theme, can I move what I have to a child theme, or do I have to start over, uploading all my media, etc? I will look into the duplicator plug in to see how that works.
One other thing, I am up to date with all my stuff (except the WooCommerce plugin) I have it installed but I never actually set it up to use commerce. Not sure if I can just deactivate it?
I’ll be back in touch.

ModeratorHello ALfredo,
Yes, you can directly activate the child theme it will not create any issues.
Regarding Woocommerce plugin you can deactivate that if you are not using it. It will make no effect.Regards,

ParticipantThanks again Bidur.
One more question. When I activate the child theme, Is there a new directory created where my stuff lives? Can you refer me to details on how that works. I assume the URL and everything else is the same?Thanks

ParticipantBidur,
When you say “directly download from the account section”, where is that?
Can I actually download just the child theme files for Pure & Simple?Thanks,

ParticipantBidur,
You suggested:Incase if you want to edit the file yourself be sure to make the changes in the child theme so that changes won’t lost upon updates;
1. Go to wp-contents >> themes >> partials >> social-bar.php and duplicate the file in child theme
2. Then you can make changesI could not find that location, where I found it was:
wp-content >> themes >> puresimple >> partials >> social-bar.php
But this file only has all the social media info. What I want to change is the information I have at the bottom of my home page. Currently I only have the Facebook icon, and it is pointing to the wrong FB page. How can I fix that, or add other social media icons.
Thanks

ParticipantBidur,
Please ignore this question. I am no longer using this old site. I’ve updated to P&S Pro and I don’t need this info anymore.
Thanks,

ModeratorYeah, good to hear you Alfredo. You should have updated the theme earlier.
Hope everything is going well now!
