Wondering if anyone has tried creating multiple links (using image-mapped coordinates) on one “slide” of the showcase slide show? Or, another solution might be inserting multiple images separately linked, however the scaling doesn’t seem work on all the images. I know this is probably a WidgetKit question, but I’ve looked elsewhere and I’m wondering if anyone here has tried it.

Hi Ellen… doing image mapped links on an image, in particular, a slider, is something I am not sure you can actually do. I’ve personally never seen this done with the exception to static images in a page. As for scaling (responsive), you may want to look into what ones are not responsive and compare it to those that are in the slider. If you wrap an image or add inline styling such as width or height, this will affect responsive sizing because this is handled already by the theme css framework.
