I realize this is an old thread… but I add my vote for an option to add tumblr into a future update

Just an update on this… I discovered today that this plugin “broke” both my “home” page and my “shop” page.

it minimized a plugin I had that disabled categories so clicking on any of the images on the home page led to a 404 error. It also messed up the custom gallery on my shop page so that if you clicked on an image, rather than showing the thumbnail it took you to the image itself…

I disabled that plugin and it’s back to the drawing board. Gaining a little speed isn’t worth all the problems that plugin ended up creating.

thank you. I’m going to try to add them as exceptions and yes I’m paying attention to see if anything else becomes a problem with this plugin.

well yes. I want the number of sidebar posts to be limited (so they don’t stretch off the page infinitely on a single short post the way they do for a series of posts like in the archives.

    See these two links:

    Single post: http://asktheastrologers.com/free-daily-tarotscope-jan-13-2014/

    Category or archived posts: http://asktheastrologers.com/daily-tarotscope/

I’d followed along in the tutorials to set up those sidebar posts to begin with (using the recent post plus and advanced text widgets that were referenced there). In the tutorials it went through the different features — as in how many posts to display in the sidebar and how to customize them so that only specified content displayed.) So I was thinking this was the best place to get the answer. Whatever I did didn’t work.

I do appreciate your time. But from what I’m reading above it sounds like this is a custom sidebar issue and not a theme or support issue. I will keep looking! and thank you again.

It must have been a plugin; I did post on the forums which I cringe at the idea of posting in because so many of the responses so often sarcastic, demoralizing, militant about posting etiquette, etc… ) and someone suggested that I deactivate all the plugins and then see if the issue was fixed, and if so reactivate them one by one.

I’d already tried that but because some of the theme’s special features are dependent on plugins, I ended up with NO content whatsoever. Anyway I reactivated everything I’d deactivated and voila .. the issue appears to be fixed. Just thought I would
update you. thanks for your help

thank you for your kind words. if the site looks good it’s because I diligently followed every one of your tutorials which are so well done. so the thanks go out to you! (the few dollars I spent on this theme was well worth it for the tutorials alone — they are fantastic!)

I will post this problem on the WP forums and see what the answer is. It may be a plug in or something I’ve done on my end which is why you haven’t seen this issue before. i’ll update you if / when I learn anything.

Im using the most recent update.. but that shouldnt be the issue this has been ongoing and Ive tried to figure it out myself (to no avail).

Clicking on the blog link from the menu navigation returns a page with 16 posts.. Clicking on any of the categories that have more than 7 posts (whether I do it from the header or footer menu, or from the category link at the bottom of the post) always returns 7.

    (like this: http://asktheastrologers.com/blog/ vs. http://asktheastrologers.com/tarot-scopes/)

I tried it with other themes.. it’s the same: 7 per page. It seems to have something to do with the difference between a page (as the blog is set up with this theme) and a collection of posts (ie category selection). Thank you for your help. 🙂

Along what I think are the same lines as this question, is there a way to increase the number of posts that display on a category page?

I understand that making changes in the Reading Settings on wordpress does this for my main “blog” posts, but it doesn’t seem to work for category posts.

I might have 20 posts in one category but only 7 display, even though my Reading settings are set for 16. Blog posts do display all 16. Any help you can offer is appreciated.

if it’s not that important (for SERP) then don’t worry about it. I tried to google this and found lots of solutions but most of them dependent on specific themes. It looked like it was a common concern and lots of answers out there but all offering different solutions. thanks for your response!
