The most common change people make with WordPress now is moving the blog further into the site and create a custom page for the front of their site; also known as a static front page.

How to Create a Static Page and Assign it to Home Page
- Create a New Page (Note: you can use existing page too)
- Go to Settings
- Go to Readings
- Go to Front Page Displays
- Select the A Static Page Checkbox
- Select the newly created page or existing page in front page Dropdown.
- Click Save Changes

How to Move the Blog Page
- Create a New Page (Note: you can use existing page too)
- Go to Settings
- Go to Readings
- Go to Front Page Displays
- Select the A Static Page Checkbox
- Select the newly created page or existing page in Posts page Dropdown.
- Click Save Changes
You need to add the newly created pages to the menus in order to display them in the navigation sections.
